For a stainless steel reactor, the heating medium is 5 kilograms of heat transfer oil at 300°C; therefore, should it be designed with internal coil heating, external jacket heating, or external semi-circular tube heating?
To achieve what you want, jacket heating is definitely better in comparison! If internal heating is used, it must not affect operation.
It is best to use an outer half-tube or an inner coiled tube, along with a jacket; the pressure and temperature of this jacket result in a greater wall thickness for the inner cylinder.
I suggest you have a jacket. If a companion pipe is used, heat transfer is poor; if a coiled tube is used, it poses a safety risk to the equipment in case of leakage into the tank. I used a jacket before; it was great.
In terms of heat transfer efficiency, the internal coil is certainly superior to the external semi-coil; the worst option is the jacketed structure (in a jacketed structure, the thickness of the inner tube is generally determined by external pressure). In most cases, it is the user who decides on the type of structure to be used. When using a coil structure, material selection must be taken into account due to contact with the material. The processing cost increases when using a semi-coil structure, while for a jacketed structure, guide plates should be installed to improve heat transfer efficiency.
The inner coil has a high heat transfer efficiency and can also enhance mixing, but it poses the risk of coil damage and leakage, which could contaminate the material. The heat transfer through the jacket is average, and it also leads to an increased thickness of the inner tube wall, which is not conducive to heat transfer. Semi-tubes are a good choice as they can enhance heat transfer, but they result in higher pressure drops and higher manufacturing costs; if the heat transfer oil furnace system has specific requirements regarding pressure drops, then careful selection of the semi-tube diameter is necessary.

If both heating and cooling are required, multiple media would be needed. What about glass-lined reaction vessels? Steel-clad tile reaction vessels? PP reaction vessels? Fiberglass reaction vessels?
Won’t a half-pipe cause an increase in the wall thickness of the cylinder? Both the half-pipe and the jacket exert external pressure on the cylinder
It’s a half-pipe, not a companion pipe; there’s no companion pipe used on the reaction kettle, right?
Calculate the heat exchange area; if external heating is possible, avoid using coiled tubes~~~~
