The following information comes from 360 Baike: Glitter sand (expansive perlite for ultra-low temperature and high-strength engineering applications) is a product obtained by heating finely selected small particles of mineral sand in a vertical kiln using natural gas as a heat source, resulting in expansion. The enhanced version of this product features an organic silicon coating applied to its surface, thereby creating a water-repellent structure. The color, bulk density, and specifications of the product are similar to those of ordinary expanded perlite. This product is primarily used for the insulation layer construction in large-scale ultra-low temperature thermal engineering applications, such as oxygen production air separation units, as well as vehicles and ships used for the cryogenic transport of natural gas, liquid hydrogen, liquid nitrogen, and liquid oxygen.
