As stated in the title, the inter-stage cooling equipment and separator for a passivation air compressor installed at my site do not qualify as pressure vessels since their volume does not meet the standard requirement of 0.03 cubic meters; however, the vessel category field on the equipment’s nameplate bears the stamp indicating “Class I”. In this case, can I directly change the information on this nameplate, such as scratching or grinding off the stamp?
There should be no problem with this, but careful consideration is needed before making this decision; it is necessary to review the completion documents of the equipment and communicate well with the special inspection team. The equipment file records indicate changes to the contents of the nameplate.
Many devices with a capacity ranging from over 25 liters to 30 liters prior to the major regulatory change were in this situation. If this device has been registered, procedures must be carried out at the Special Inspection Institute. From now on, it will be managed as non-inspection equipment.
It cannot be modified on its own; the nameplate must be sent to the equipment manufacturer, who will then send you the correct one.
Does this device follow the specifications of version 09 or version 16? It is necessary to first figure out what is causing the issue – what are the specifications stated in the design drawings? The approach to handling it needs to be determined based on the specific circumstances.
