As shown in the figure, for multiple equally spaced annotations, is it the spacing multiplied by the number, or the number multiplied by the spacing? Are there any requirements regarding this?
Do you know where such requirements can be found?
A second-grader in elementary school understands this. a×b means there are b a’s to be added. This is the meaning of a multiplication arithmetic expression.

Thank you, I’ve found this standard: it’s the quantity multiplied by the spacing, and no parentheses are needed around the equals sign
The source is unknown; we have always used quantity x spacing.
