There is a discrepancy between the volume calculated using the downloaded software and the values obtained by calculating the head and the straight pipe section separately! Storage tank: the head height is 530, the straight pipe section length is 5800, the diameter is 2000; the head is of the standard elliptical type. The calculation by the small software yields 22–23 cubic meters, while calculating the head and straight pipe sections separately gives 20 cubic meters. The volume indicated on the tank’s nameplate is 20 cubic feet! The calculation formulas found online give the same results when calculated using Excel as those obtained with other small software programs! Do the experts have any suitable calculation formulas for horizontal storage tanks? It matches the actual situation.

The height of the straight edges of the end cap must be known. If the height of the straight sides is 40 mm, the volume is 20.58 cubic meters; if it is 25 mm, the volume is 20.47 cubic meters. The formula for calculating the total volume of a horizontal storage tank is simple: it is the volume of a cylinder plus the volume of a standard ellipse. The complexity lies in calculating the volume at different liquid levels.
