When manufacturing containers, and after the equipment has been built, if overall heat treatment in a furnace is required and the flange sealing surface is of the RJ type, how is protection ensured in such cases?
The heat treatment manufacturers have a type of coating that can protect the flange sealing surfaces. I’ve only seen it turn white after heating; I’m not aware of its exact composition or working principle, so it’s recommended to ask the heat treatment manufacturer.

This protection consists of two aspects: first, electric heating furnaces should be used as much as possible; if gas or fuel furnaces are used, the flanges must be kept away from the burners, and a slightly reducing atmosphere should be maintained inside the furnace. Second, apply a high-temperature resistant coating to the flange sealing surface.
Equipment that requires heat treatment is generally used to eliminate welding stresses. The specifications clearly require that welding must be prohibited after heat treatment.
In our factory, the RJ surfaces are all clad; the equipment is clad after final heat treatment: lol
The sealing surfaces of common flanges are coated with high-temperature resistant coatings for protection.
Can the sealing surface be sealed with ceramic clips?
Can that still be called overall heat treatment?
