Recently, my supervisor assigned me a task: the company is planning to obtain an ASME certificate, and I’m supposed to handle the preliminary preparations. I would like to ask what exactly needs to be prepared, as well as whether there are any organizations that can assist with obtaining this certificate. It would be great if I could get their contact information and company names. Thank you so much
For ASME design, it is not necessary to have a design agency involved; only a certification body is required, but approval from AI is needed, making the process relatively complicated
Contact the certification authority, and they will assign it to your AI for guidance. Alternatively, you can also contact a company that provides agency certification, but this will incur costs.
As mentioned above, contact the ABS classification society; they will send someone to provide guidance. The simpler it is, the better, and there are templates available for reference.
There are many agencies that hold ASME certification these days; ABS, BV, and even various inspection associations are all options. Whichever one you decide to hire to assist with obtaining the certification, just contact them – these agencies are more than willing to help with the training.
Which city are you from, OP? The normal procedure is to first sign a certification contract with a qualified testing agency. Then the inspection agency will send AI and AIS to assist the factory in establishing a quality assurance system, applying for certificate renewal, and arranging joint inspections. If you need more information, you can send me a private message.
The ABS service is quite good. We used to turn to them for nuclear power certification for our two previous companies.
