Upon arriving at the workshop, it was found that the temperature of the oil separator housing of the ammonia compressor was very high – it was extremely hot. What could be the reason? Thank you.
An ammonia compressor doesn’t necessarily have only one allowable operating condition; in the cases I’ve seen, the temperature at the outlet of the ammonia compressor was 150 degrees Celsius, and oil was present at that outlet.

What was mentioned earlier is not refrigeration, but the production of liquid ammonia using a sulfur-containing ammonia wastewater stripping unit. Piston-type ammonia compressor. Coming out of the ammonia compressor is oil (in two stages); the main component of this oil is refrigeration oil, which then goes to the water cooler, where the circulating water is condensed to produce liquid ammonia.
