How can the performance of cranes of the same tonnage from different manufacturers differ so greatly?

This post was last edited by jmdc on 2018-9-10 09:12. Why can there be such big differences in the performance of cranes of the same tonnage from different manufacturers? As shown in the figures below: In Figure 1, the lifting capacity above the thick solid line is determined by the strength of the crane. In Figure 2, even with the addition of counterweights, the lifting capacity can increase – so isn’t it still necessary to take into account the strength of the crane? Is the crane strength of the manufacturer in Figure 2 much greater than that in Figure 1?
Is it because the crane types are different?
