From September 18 to 21, 2018, the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Boilers and Pressure Vessels held the \"5th Training and Awareness Session for Workers in the Field of Boilers and Pressure Vessels in 2018\" in Lanzhou. Yang Guoyi, the deputy secretary-general of this committee, presided over the training session and delivered an opening speech. Discussions were held with a wide range of participants regarding the current status of third-party training and assessment management for pressure vessel design approvers, as well as the division of responsibilities between training and assessment activities and continuing education. Specifically, third-party training and assessment, along with continuing education, are carried out through collaboration between the Pressure Equipment Professional Committee and the National Boiler and Pressure Vessel Standardization Technical Committee, so as to be used as references by certification and evaluation agencies. Through this collaborative working model, and based on market-driven adoption, strong technical support is provided to ensure the quality of pressure vessel design. In addition, I informed the participants about the current status of standard development and revision in my committee; for instance, work has already begun on developing and revising nearly a hundred standards, including those related to analysis and design standards. This year represents one with the highest volume of standard development and revision work in recent years. At the same time, an explanation was provided regarding the development of our committee’s expert database. People with relevant expertise are welcome to actively participate in the work of our committee and contribute to the standardization of pressure equipment. This training and dissemination session invited the main drafters of the relevant standards as well as industry experts to explain and interpret the technical content of these standards. More than 240 trainees from across the country participated in this training and dissemination course. The main contents of this training session include the \"Technical Requirements for Ordering Welding Materials for Pressure Equipment\", \"Selection of Materials for Typical Pressure Vessels and Key Technical Requirements\", \"Introduction to Standards for Nickel and Nickel Alloy Materials Used in Pressure Equipment\", and \"Design Calculations for Vessels with Non-Circular Cross-Sections\". In addition to the classroom lectures, the training included Q&A sessions and technical exchanges, to which everyone participated actively, earning high praise from all the trainees.
