Dear forum members: Selection of lugs for HG/T20574 \"Lugs for Chemical Equipment\". Should I choose a single lifting lug whose lifting capacity is sufficient based on the equipment’s weight? Is it too conservative? For example: if the weight of a horizontal device is 10 tons, should two lifting lugs be chosen, each capable of handling 10 tons, or two lugs each with a lifting capacity of 7.5 tons? Welcome to provide guidance; please offer the basis.
The lifting lugs, just like the supports, need only meet the requirements per the standards. If the cost of the materials used is roughly the same, it’s better to be cautious for greater reliability. The reason is the existence of unknown loads and operations to be prevented.
