I would like to ask everyone: when the reinforcement ring is placed within the saddle plane or near it, is it sufficient to add one ring on one side of the saddle? Should reinforcement rings be added on both sides of the saddle as well?
Look at the diagram in NB/T47042. When in the saddle plane, only one reinforcement ring is required ; Near the saddle plane, there is one on each side of the saddle (i.e., two).
I feel that standardizing those diagrams is merely to clarify the positioning of the reinforcement rings and their combined cross-sections; saying it’s used to indicate the number of reinforcement rings seems a bit far-fetched.
When in the saddle plane, only one reinforcement ring is needed; a few more can be used as well, but the combined inertial moment is the same as that of one ring. Near the saddle plane, there is one on each side of the saddle; of course, a few more on each side can be added as long as it remains within the effective range. But the effect is the same as that of 1.

For the reinforcement ring on the saddle surface, if it is an internal reinforcement ring, adding one is no problem; its position should be at a distance of A from that point. If it is an external reinforcement ring, since it is necessary to avoid the saddle gusset plates (this is only feasible when it is a single reinforcement ring rather than a full ring), should it be added on the side that is less than A or on the side that is greater than A? Do the two have the same effect?
I have encountered this problem too. Later, I searched on Baidu Images; the external reinforcement ring is placed along the center line of the saddle, avoiding the area where the ribs are located, with welding being done in all other areas – it’s an arc with a radius of around 200 degrees. It is estimated that the section of the saddle rib web is considered to be a reinforcement ring.
It can also only be placed at position A under the condition that the outer reinforcement ring is not a full circle.
By looking at the positions of the stresses σ7 and σ8 in Figure 7 of the standards for horizontal containers, it seems that the web of the support is also used as a reinforcement ring; the additional reinforcement ring is positioned exactly on the upper arc where there is no web.
