In the strength calculation of horizontal vessels, older calculation software could only handle vessels with two saddles; the new version of such software is capable of handling vessels with three saddles. So, is it possible to calculate vessels with four saddles, five saddles, or even more? Does anyone among you know the answer? Could you please provide some guidance? Thank you!

For multi-support structures, the most important factors are the bending moments and the reaction forces at the supports. The formulas in statics calculation manuals can be used; once these two values are determined, the stress calculations can be carried out using the same formulas as for those with two supports
I would like to ask: (1) When calculating the saddles for a horizontal shell-and-tube heat exchanger, should a simplified model of a horizontal container be used, or should the data be entered separately for the two pressure chambers? (2) The compressor is fixedly installed on the top of the horizontal container; the shape of the bracket should be determined based on the dimensions of the saddle. Is it sufficient to consider only the weight of the compressor and other attached components when determining the load?
The compressor can be regarded as a concentrated load; why would a compressor be installed on a heat exchanger? The compressor is a mechanical component that vibrates during operation, which can be problematic; should dynamic loads be taken into consideration? Are you from Dalian University of Technology?
Small piston compressors are not very heavy in weight. The compressors in question here are part of marine compression units, and given the size of these units, it is necessary to place the compressors on top of the heat exchangers.
