Thermal siphon heat exchanger

Gentleman experts, has anyone worked with thermal siphon heat exchangers? Regarding the current Puritan issue, must strength expansion joints be used for the heat exchange tubes and tube sheets? Can strength expansion sealing welding be used?
I don’t understand what a thermal siphon heat exchanger looks like. In my personal view, a heat exchanger is simply that – a heat exchanger. To determine what purpose this device serves, it is necessary to have the appropriate conditions for it. This requires specifying the required conditions such as the medium, pressure, temperature, and phase state at both ends of the heat exchange, and then selecting the appropriate materials and manufacturing methods based on these conditions to design and produce the heat exchanger. I’m not sure if this is what is meant; just for reference.
I’m also wondering regarding the use of borrowed space: does a gravity heat pipe heat exchanger of small size still have an effective heat exchange capacity (with dimensions of around 30 cm in length, width, and height)?
