Regarding clause 9.1.1.1 in GB/T 150-2024.4, unlike the older standards, content related to flux-cored wires has been added; however, there is ambiguity here – while other clauses assess things in terms of the pressure vessel as a whole, should flux-cored wires also be considered as a whole? Question: For example, if flux-cored wire is used for Class B welds in pressure vessels, is it necessary to prepare product test plates for Class A welds? According to the literal meaning of clause 9.1.1.1, as long as flux-cored wire is used in the equipment, product test plates must be prepared for all Class A welds! What do you all think about this?
Only equipment that uses cored wire for welding A\B class welds requires the fabrication of test plates. Otherwise, what’s the point of making test panels for inspection?

At least for Class A seams, use filler wire for welding
The purpose of this requirement, as specified by the standards, is to ensure the quality of welds produced with cored wire. Cored wire is not used for Class A welds – then why is it necessary for Class B welds?
The usage limitations of flux-cored wires extend beyond just using them for welding tests; retesting of the welding materials and control over the welding process also involve strict requirements.
