In TSG 21, P146, under the revision notes, it is stated that silane is incompatible with metal wound gaskets equipped with reinforcing rings (causing corrosion) in the sections regarding flanged connections, metal wound gaskets with reinforcing rings, and high-strength bolts of special grade. My question is: (1) Silanes are incompatible with metal wound gaskets, so what type of gasket should be used? What material should be used for containers that hold silane? Why are they incompatible? (2) Dielectric properties of silanes: Not extremely or highly hazardous; they are classified as explosive materials. Does it fall under high permeability and moderate hazard? Incompatibility means no reaction, which means it can be used. Silane is completely non-corrosive, so using gasketing is no problem.

Divider——————————————————————————Divider Guessing randomly: if silane reacts with oxygen and the temperature rises, causing the PTFE gasket seal to fail, could that lead to increased risks? Is polytetrafluoroethylene still considered a polymer? The other three fillers for gasketing materials are chrysotile asbestos, graphite, and non-asbestos fibers; these may all contain impurities such as organic polymers, which is why they cannot be used?
I’m also confused. According to the material compatibility guidelines, silanes should be incompatible; yet the screenshot states that they are non-corrosive and can be used with various materials. I don’t quite understand this. Please advise those who know more
We use ordinary winding gaskets, and there’s no problem with them
We use metal winding, and there are no issues at all
