What is on top of the combustion furnace?

For the combustion furnace in my device, what is that thing on it? What is its function? Please share, bonus points as shown in the image
It should be the air inlet; air enters through here, where it first exchanges heat with the hot flue gases to recover thermal energy and reduce the flue gas temperature, before entering the combustion chamber to supply oxygen.
