According to the provisions in 150, if there are no folds at either the large end or the small end, after verifying the allowable external pressure for the large end, the small end, and the conical shell, it is necessary to verify the reinforcement area as well. The inner diameter of my cylinder is 1200, its height is 1500, the designed temperature is 120°C, the material used is Q245R, the pressure is -0.1 Mpa, and the corrosion allowance is 1 mm. It turns out that 8 mm is sufficient for the conical shell and the upper end of the cylinder. I then calculated the reinforcement area at the junction between the upper end of the cylinder and the cylinder itself; I used 8 mm as the nominal thickness for both the cylinder and the conical shell. Using the formula given above, the required reinforcement area came out to be 84.908, while the effective cross-sectional area is around 754 – which is clearly sufficient. However, in the calculation sheet, a reinforcement section must be added for the big-end format; the area that needs to be reinforced as well as the effective reinforcement area related to the conical shell are automatically calculated based on the thickness of the reinforcement section, which is 13 mm. I just don’t understand (why), based on what considerations, does SW6 need additional reinforcement sections? For those with flanges on both the large-end and small-end sides, the value of 150 is applied; in such cases, there is no need to calculate the area required for reinforcement. It is sufficient as long as the allowable external pressure is satisfied and the moment of inertia meets the requirements. Then why is it that the thickness of the reinforced section is also specified in the calculation sheet?

In the calculation sheet, for the required moment of inertia, if using 8-8 it does not meet the requirements; then increase it to 13 automatically so that it meets the criteria

It should be: The reinforcement area is sufficient, but if you use the junction between the conical shell and the cylinder as a support line, the moment of inertia is not enough; therefore, reinforcement sections are required. A thickness of 13 mm is sufficient for the reinforcement section, and the calculations above are also based on 13 mm.
What does a support line mean? Don’t know how to solve it.
