At the construction site of the system, pipe caps are welded to both ends of a DN400 pipe that is over one meter in length; the pipe is equipped with process inlets and outlets (DN150). The operating pressure does not exceed 1.0 MPa, and the process medium flowing within the pipe is liquefied gas (non-toxic and non-explosive). Does such a pipe assembly qualify as a pressure pipeline or as a pressure vessel? As shown in the figure
You yourself said it – call them pipe components, pipe assemblies, or pipe fittings. The question is: What exactly happened at the scene, for which you are asking?
It should be a pressure vessel, just an incomplete one. Over time, after these changes, various problems will arise; at the very least, the flow rate will change, which in turn can lead to issues such as corrosion.
Those pressure pipelines that are welded on-site from steel pipes and fittings are regulated as pressure pipelines, while those that are welded by the manufacturer and then transported to the site for installation are generally regulated as pressure vessels. This is how the manifolds at gas transmission stations for long-distance pipelines are constructed (some also call them gathering pipes).
Whether it is a pressure pipeline or a pressure vessel, it seems that there is no design documentation in the original question; it is likely related to compliance issues
