There is pressure inside a reaction vessel; the jacket falls outside the scope of pressure vessel regulations (it uses cooling water), while the interior of the vessel is subject to those regulations. The entire equipment is classified as a Class I pressure vessel. Problem ; Is local non-destructive testing required for the jacket? Is there any evidence? Thanks for the advice!
Is the jacket of your device modular, rather than welded on?
That is, when this reactor is designed as Class I, it has no jacket. Was the jacket bolted on later by oneself?
The jacket should undergo non-destructive testing; if it is designed and manufactured in accordance with GBT150, then non-destructive testing must be carried out in line with the provisions of GBT150, regardless of whether it falls under the scope of relevant regulatory standards or not.
The jacket is a part of the reactor and affects its strength; stress calculations are conducted during the design process. Therefore, it is necessary.
What needs to be done: flaw detection is specified in GB/T150; it’s not just a matter of meeting tolerance requirements – the jacket also has to comply with the requirements of GB/T150
