Dear teachers, can the welding procedure qualification for 09MnNiDR plates with a thickness of 4.5 mm using GTAW be based on that for Q345R plates with a thickness of 3 mm using GTAW?
Teacher, the minimum impact temperature for Q345R should be -20 degrees, while that for 09MnNiDR is -70 degrees. Plates with a thickness of less than 6 mm do not require impact testing – why can’t this rule also apply to them?
I have a gentle question: Q345R plates with a thickness of 3mm? ? ? Machined? Customized again? This specification has not been seen in the pressure vessel industry
Furthermore, this assessment cannot be used as a substitute; the welding materials for low-temperature steel plates are different, and both their impact energy and impact temperature vary
Do you need to conduct an assessment for takeover integration? It makes no sense to conduct a steel plate butt joint evaluation on the cylinder; in practice, such thin steel plates are not used for cylinders, and there may be differences in our industry

Why are the welding materials different? The classification is based on the tensile strength of the deposited metal, with one class and two grades!
