A heat exchanger is placed horizontally at the top of the tower; how should this be taken into account in the tower’s design calculations?
In the tower calculation, is it calculated partly as an eccentric load and partly as a concentrated load? Is it necessary to consider bending moments at the connection between the heat exchanger and the tower?
Vertical condensers that are directly connected to the top of the tower using flanges are commonly used, and are known as reflux condensers. Installing a horizontal condenser is simply creating trouble for oneself – how to support it? How to perform calculations for wind load, etc.? Should one develop a new set of computational methods on their own, hoping to obtain approval from bodies such as the Review Committee in a few years before putting them into practical use? !
