We currently have a welder who is involved in both rod-based butt welding projects and rod-based surfacing projects. However, the surfacing project has not been used for a year since the relevant examination was taken, whereas his rod-based butt welding skills are continuously utilized in the manufacture of pressure vessels, with intervals of no more than 6 months between assignments. Looking at Article 29 of the original examination regulations, it specifies that a break of 6 months applies to the welding method as a whole, rather than to a specific welding task. In cases where the welder’s welding method itself has not been interrupted, but a particular welding task within that method has been interrupted for more than 6 months, is it necessary to consider the requirement outlined in Article 29 regarding a re-examination after a 6-month break?
