There is lack of weld penetration at the root of the corner weld of the mounting fitting for the level gauge; the material used is 316L. Is this situation acceptable?
Can’t tell from the picture if there’s incomplete welding? Did the original poster use non-destructive testing to determine lack of weld penetration?
Medium, pressure? What about the temperature? In some cases, it is not necessary to achieve full penetration; this is specified in the relevant standards
Have all the small connectors been X-rayed? Is it the medium that’s special?
The scope defined for pressure vessels does not include the level gauge connections, right?
The owners carried out the random draw on site; I don’t understand their thinking.
The wall thickness of the level gauge cylinder is approximately 3-5 MM, and it is welded to the side tube; it is indeed possible that the weld is not complete. Encountered this: the device nozzles were not aligned, and excessive tightening of the bolts during the installation of the level gauge caused the welds to crack. Considering the load-bearing capacity, we require welding reinforcing clamps to the cylinder, and then welding the branch pipes, which is more reliable.
Compare it with the full penetration requirement for gap welds as specified in Code for Fixed Pressure Vessels 3.2.2.2.
