01 Check the levelness of the tray, as well as for any corrosion or looseness in the supports and connectors; if necessary, remove it from the tower for cleaning or replacement. 02 Inspect the tower for corrosion and deformation, as well as the condition of the welds in various areas. Measure the thickness of the tower walls, heads, the cylinder at the feed inlet, the inlet and outlet connections, the pressure outlet lines, and the level gauge wires, in order to assess the degree of corrosion. 03 Thoroughly inspect the equipment’s accessories, safety valves, pressure gauges, thermometers, level gauges, and other connections for any blockages, verify that they operate at the specified pressures, and check whether their safety valves and pressure gauges have been calibrated, among other things. 04 If abnormal vibration is detected during operation, it is essential to stop the machine for inspection in order to identify the cause and take appropriate action. For example, a special situation occurred in the coking contact cooling tower where the skirt bolt became loose. 05 For towers with dirty media, such as coking fractionation towers, it is also necessary to check whether the floating valves on the tray are flexible, as well as the degree of coking in the oil collection tank and the extraction lines at the bottom of the tower. 06 For coke towers, in addition to checking for deformation of the tower equipment and expansion of cracks in the skirt, as well as corrosion of the tower walls, it is also necessary to inspect for coke accumulation on the inner wall of the tower; if such accumulation is severe, it must be removed.
