I’m a complete novice when it comes to pressure vessels, and I work in pressure vessel design. I have a small question for the experts here: when using forged pipes for the openings on the pressure vessel cylinder, under what circumstances should Class A welds be used, that is, welding in a butt joint style with the cylinder? Or is there some standard that specifies this? I would appreciate it if the experts could provide guidance.
