Dear friends from Sichuan, I have a question for everyone today. Thank you in advance for your advice. What does 310 stand for in 310SS stainless steel? And what does SS mean?

The letter S does not denote stainless steel, as there are other grades such as 310H besides 310S. The UNS number for 310S is S31008; here, the ‘S’ denotes heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant stainless steel.
What does the specific designation mean? For Q235, the 235 refers to the yield strength; so what about the 310?
310 is the ASTM numerical code, which is related to the chemical composition. Q235B is based on domestic numbering rules; it’s not part of the same system – think of them as just names
