In SW6, how should the nominal thickness of the head be entered? For example, if the thickness of the steel plate is 6 mm, with a negative deviation of 0.3 mm, and the thinning amount resulting from processing is 0.72 mm, then should 6 mm be entered or 5.28 mm? I’m not sure whether the software will take this thinning amount into account automatically. If, after molding, 0.3 mm needs to be polished off from the inner surface, does that mean another 0.3 mm needs to be subtracted from the 5.28 mm value? This should be beyond doubt. I hope someone experienced can help me out. Thank you!
The nominal thickness is itself an approximate value, a generic term; after taking other factors into account, the value that results is the actual value
The nominal thickness can be entered as 6, while the thinning amount, negative thickness deviation, and others can all be included in the corrosion margin

The negative thickness deviation has been taken into account in the SW6 calculation; simply include the amount of thinning in the corrosion margin
The nominal thickness is the thickness of the sheet material, without taking into account negative deviations and machining tolerances
In the field for nominal thickness, enter the minimum thickness achieved by the actual part; set the material’s negative deviation to 0, and select the appropriate option there
Both methods have been tried. 1. Enter the material thickness of the head in the nominal thickness field (the actual plate thickness used, as specified in the material certificate), and add the amount of thinning due to shaping to the corrosion allowance. 2. Enter the minimum thickness of the head after molding in the nominal thickness field. For the corrosion margin, enter the value specified in the actual drawing, and check to set the negative deviation for the specified steel plate thickness to 0. When using the second method, attention must be paid to the issue of stress level jumps in the materials.
Keeping the nominal thickness unchanged, have the head manufacturer provide the minimum thickness for the head; subtract this minimum thickness from the nominal thickness to obtain the corrosion allowance, while setting the negative deviation of the steel plate to 0.
