Our company is applying for an A2 manufacturing license for pressure vessels; can we purchase flanges from companies that have the qualification to manufacture pressure vessels? They are not manufacturers of flanges; they can only produce equipment.
No, they don’t have the qualifications to produce it. They also need to purchase from qualified entities. If it was purchased by them and manufactured by a qualified manufacturer, it can be used.
Where can I find this standard?
With a lathe, one can make flanges. But a pressure vessel flange is considered a component – would you dare use it without the necessary qualifications?
If the other party can provide the flange’s factory certification and information on the qualified manufacturers of such flanges, then is that sufficient?
If you meet the requirements, you can purchase them; if the special inspection agency imposes no requirements on non-primary pressure-bearing components, then you can buy those flanges, but there’s no need to consider anything else.
Everything is purchased externally; why not choose a factory that uses proper flanges? How much cheaper can it be? .
