Has anyone here dealt with storing oil in asphalt tanks? We are preparing to carry out maintenance work inside these tanks during a major overhaul; could you suggest some methods? Thank you
Steam the tank with superheated steam at around 150 degrees until the asphalt softens and flows out. Residuals on the side walls can be cleaned with a cleaning agent.
Our asphalt has a softening point of around 90°C. If operations are suspended, would it be unnecessary to use a steaming tank? Can we simply start the cleaning process to recover and store the oil? Are there any good methods for recovering and storing oil?
So what is your tank pressure, and can it be steamed under pressure?
It’s basically at atmospheric pressure, so it can’t be purged with steam
