As the title suggests, 1. Which department can propose the use of alternative materials? For procurement, production, processes, technology – alternatives for materials can generally be proposed. 2. Which department is responsible for review? 3. Should the approver be the quality assurance engineer, the technical supervisor, or the person in charge of system-related materials? Is it the technical department that handles approval?
Are there some cases of material substitution that are not due to procurement reasons, but still proposed by the procurement department?
Each company is different; isn’t it the case that things are improved in terms of production, approved from a technical standpoint, and only then does procurement come into play?
It was the procurement department that proposed, based on importance and procedural documents, selecting the appropriate levels of review by design engineers, process engineers, material engineers, welding engineers, quality assurance engineers, etc.
