Storage tank with pressure ring structure, as shown in the figure. The top plate and channel steel support the 18mm gap in the middle. In this case, do I need to cut a piece off the channel steel beam and place the compression ring inside the steel beam?

I suggest you contact the designer directly and don't make your own decisions. A long, long, long time ago, once, the design institute's drawings showed M18 anchor bolts. This series was not included in the standards listed in the actual drawings, and the reaming holes could not be opened enough. I could only use M16 ones. The acceptance failed. You say it's unfair or not.

You have to find the designer who signed the drawings. The most I can do in the forum is give you an analysis, but no one will take responsibility for you. Asking the designer also exempts you from liability! There is nothing trivial about special equipment. If something goes wrong, it will be ruined for life!
