I am confused regarding the flange type and gasket selection for ethylene oxide as specified in Appendix B of HG/T20583. Ethylene oxide is a highly hazardous medium; in my opinion, a butt-welded flange with a pressure rating of at least 2.0 MPa should be used for the connection flanges. As for the gasket material, copper should be used instead of polytetrafluoroethylene (as stated in clause 4.4.7 of this standard) – is this due to temperature considerations? Can graphite metal wound gaskets be used instead? Dear sea friends, please share your opinions.
It should normally come with a neck butt-weld flange!
The flange is a welded flange with a neck, and the gasket is a metal wound gasket with a reinforcement ring.
Section 4.4.7 of HG/T20583-2020 specifies that in cases where the medium is ethylene oxide, polytetrafluoroethylene materials should be used for gaskets.
