Dear forum members, I have a small question that needs solving. When we talk about threads with a certain number of teeth, what type of thread are we referring to? Is it a G thread?
Pipe threads use threads measured in fractions of an inch. It is the number of teeth per unit inch. In pipe threads, it is usually the number of threads, which can be quite confusing; there are differences between domestic and international standards, as well as between imperial and metric systems, and between old and new standards. G, ZG, RP, RC, NPT, etc. – some are universal while others are not; it’s quite confusing.
Just want to know what type the standard pipe thread is
You can’t ask this question in that way; it’s like saying, “I want to eat.” If you insist on asking what food is eaten by default, it’s impossible to give a specific answer. You need to ask specifically based on the objective factors of the place where you intend to use it. Pipe threads come in many varieties: they can be classified by angle, by type, by sealing characteristics, as well as by straightness and cone angle, and so on. Just like with your first question, as for what thread size it is, the only general answer is that it’s imperial; if we were to go into further detail on the various specific classifications, it would take up an entire paper.

The thread sizes we commonly use, such as so-and-so inches, refer to the G series GB/T7307 standard; they are not self-sealing imperial thread types that require the use of PTFE tape during installation, like those used on household water faucets and water heaters. To reiterate, these are the most common types used in our daily lives
The “size” of a thread refers to the nominal diameter of imperial threads; for example, a 4-size thread means a thread with a diameter of 1/2 inch.
