The operating pressure of the pressure vessel is 0.3 MPa, with a design pressure of 0.6 MPa; currently the operating pressure is 0.4 MPa. Since the operating temperature remains unchanged, can the equipment still be used? How do I go through the procedures?
No changes are needed. Isn’t the design pressure usually set at 1.1 times the operating pressure? The design pressure of 0.6 MPa you chose is sufficient.
If the operating pressure specified in the as-built drawings is 0.30 MPa, then it is not allowed to change it to 0.40 MPa. Of course, when the design pressure is 0.60 MPa but the operating pressure is set at 0.30 MPa, this largely depends on the user entity. If the operating pressure for the as-built drawing work is set below 0.57 MPa, and the setting pressure of the safety valve is between 0.42–0.60 MPa, the operating pressure can be changed to 0.40 MPa.
Do you need to modify the inspection data? It can be changed, but it’s a bit troublesome. Write an application to the local pressure vessel inspection agency to explain the reasons, discuss with your on-site inspector the process for returning the documents, retrieve the original product documents from the special inspection agency, and resubmit them after making the necessary revisions following the original procedure.
