The hydrostatic test exceeding the nominal pressure of the gasket may cause the gasket to be deformed or damaged, thereby affecting the sealing effect. If this situation only occurs during pressure testing and does not exceed the nominal pressure of the gasket during operation, there is no need to replace the gasket with a higher grade. However, if in actual use, the system working pressure will often approach or exceed the nominal pressure of the gasket, it is recommended to use a higher grade gasket to ensure sealing performance and safety. At the same time, when selecting gaskets, the pressure test situation should also be considered and the appropriate gasket grade should be selected. -

The design pressure of an equipment in the factory is 10. The flange and gaskets are selected according to CLASS600. The Class600 gaskets used in the hydraulic pressure test were torn and flew away when the water pressure reached 8Mpa. It is not clear whether it is a quality issue with the gaskets or if the grade was selected too low.
What material is the gasket made of and what is its standard number?
It is recommended to choose a higher grade gasket.
