Dear sea friends, the material is S31603, and there are no chloride ions in it. Is this pitting?
This is not necessarily pitting. S31603 (316L stainless steel) has strong resistance to pitting corrosion in the absence of chloride ions. The possibility of other forms of corrosion or mechanical damage should be considered, and further inspection and analysis should be carried out. .
