Prevention first: Let’s praise and encourage the achievements made in China’s chemical engineering technology and equipment. **********************【Ten Years of Great Development in Chemical Engineering Equipment】A continuously updated summary post is available; feel free to join the discussions at https://bbs.hcbbs.com/thread-3576046-1-1.html (Source: Haichuan Chemical Engineering Forum) ***************** Recently, the vehicle-mounted liquid hydrogen tanks developed independently by Tianhai Industry passed the low-temperature performance tests and safety tests in a liquid hydrogen environment at the Beijing Aerospace Test and Technology Institute. This was the first full-scale test using liquid hydrogen as the medium carried out in China. The successful completion of this test effectively verified the reliability of the design of the on-board liquid hydrogen tanks, as well as the testing procedures and equipment used. It provided valuable and accurate data for assessing the safety and low-temperature performance of liquid hydrogen storage systems. This achievement marks a significant breakthrough in China’s field of designing, manufacturing, and testing on-board liquid hydrogen tanks, and it represents another milestone in the development and application of technologies related to on-board liquid hydrogen in China. With the strong support of the Beijing Science and Technology Commission, the Zhongguancun Management Committee, and the China Special Equipment Inspection and Research Institute, the liquid hydrogen medium test took several months from preparation to completion. After multiple rounds of evaluation by experts, the test plan was finalized, and tasks such as site construction and modification, calibration of the measurement and control systems, safety assessments, and fire drills were carried out. On-site staff monitor parameters such as the temperature, pressure, liquid level, and hydrogen concentration of the tank in real time during the test, and nitrogen purging equipment is used to ensure the safety of the experiment. The tests included aspects such as airtightness, mass hydrogen storage density, static evaporation rate, retention time, leak rate of the vacuum insulation layer, vacuum level of the insulation layer, fire resistance, drop testing, and vibration testing; ultimately, the tests using liquid hydrogen as the medium were a complete success. With the active promotion of the Beijing Municipal Government, and the support of the Beijing Science and Technology Commission and the Zhongguancun Management Committee, enterprises and research institutions such as Tianhai Industry, BEIQI Foton, China National Institute of Special Equipment Inspection, Tsinghua University, Yihuatong, and Aerospace Institute 101 have joined forces to work on key technologies related to complete vehicles, liquid hydrogen storage and supply systems, fuel cells, hydrogen refueling stations, as well as testing equipment and methods for liquid hydrogen, and to carry out practical demonstrations of these technologies. Lunhai Industry, leveraging its technical expertise in hydrogen energy and cryogenic technologies, has made breakthroughs in key core technologies such as structure, insulation, and stable hydrogen supply, and has independently developed a new generation of on-board liquid hydrogen storage tanks. Compared to traditional cryogenic tanks, on-vehicle liquid hydrogen tanks have a lower design temperature, stricter safety requirements, more complex mechanical structures, and higher performance standards in terms of low-temperature operation. At present, the second-generation on-vehicle liquid hydrogen storage and supply system developed by Amakai Industry can store more than 80 kilograms of hydrogen, providing a driving range of over 1,000 kilometers, which is at the international advanced level.
