On May 30, the first batch of radiant sections for the cracking furnace of the 1 million tons per year 3# ethylene unit in the Maoming Petrochemical Refining Transformation and Ethylene Upgrading project, which was manufactured by Maoming Gravity, was shipped out and delivered to the project site on schedule. This device utilizes Sinopec’s own advanced technology and is manufactured for the first time using a standardized design. Maoming Gravity took on the task of manufacturing key equipment for the Maoshan Petrochemical upgrading project, such as ethylene cracker units, quench heat exchangers, and loop reactors; these were the first pieces of equipment delivered by Gravity to the project site. This time, changes in the drawings and material plans for the anchorages supplied by the client affected the steel structure of the cracking section of the 1 million tons/year 3# ethylene plant, posing significant challenges to the project’s execution; only 3 days were available to complete the entire process from receiving the drawings to preparing the materials. Such a tight deadline represents a severe challenge for any manufacturing company. Maoming Gravity did not back down as a result. With the confidence and determination to fully support and serve Maoming Petrochemical, it faced the challenges head-on, organized intensive production schedules, mobilized a large number of workers to work in 24-hour shifts, carried out tasks such as marking, welding, sanding and rust removal, applying paint for corrosion protection, and packaging the products for shipment, all in a continuous flow. The team committed themselves fully during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, carrying out each task with high quality, which laid a solid foundation for timely delivery. Under the coordination and guidance of SEI and Maoming Petrochemical, Maoming Gravity promptly addressed the owner’s requirements, optimized the scheduling and sequence of steel structure manufacturing, thereby ensuring efficient progress in production. Faced with various challenges such as changes in the welding scope for the anchor fixtures supplied by the client, the arrival of lining drawings and anchor fixture materials, etc., through active coordination by the Materials Supply Center and a prompt response from Maoming Gravity, manufacturing strategies were adjusted in a timely manner. The company took the initiative to communicate with the manufacturers of the anchor fixtures, urging them to allocate resources and implement measures such as on-site supervision to accelerate delivery and conduct quality checks. By using a scheduled and targeted delivery method, with shipments made in batches according to demand, it was ensured that the equipment was delivered on time and in high quality. It is understood that the refinery transformation and upgrading project as well as the ethylene improvement project at the Maoming branch are key initiatives in Guangdong Province and Sinopec to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party, advance new-type industrialization, and promote the high-end, intelligent, and green development of the manufacturing sector. They are also crucial projects for Maoming Petrochemical to achieve its fourth phase of leapfrog development. Once the project is put into operation, it will contribute to the high-quality development of the petrochemical industry cluster in Maoming and throughout South China. It is expected to increase the output value of the downstream petrochemical industry by over 150 billion yuan, thereby making a greater contribution to China’s efforts to advance new-type industrialization and accelerate the construction of a manufacturing powerhouse.
