The safety cover is placed over the outlet pipe of the gas tank; it prevents a negative pressure from forming inside the tank due to the suction effect of the Roots blower (or other compressor) when the tank reaches its lowest position. An anchor cap is a section of pipe with a diameter larger than that of the outlet pipe; when the gas tank drops to its lowest point, this section of pipe covers the outlet pipe while also extending into the water, thereby creating a water seal at the outlet pipe and preventing the gas inside the tank from escaping, thus serving to protect the tank.
