Is it reasonable for the pipe flange to be thinner than the equipment flange?

I have also encountered this issue; it’s just my personal understanding for reference: whether it’s a tube-side flange or a shell-side flange, the bolt force acting on them is the same, and the design torque required for the flanges is also the same. However, the thickness of the smaller end of the tube-side flange is greater than that of the shell-side flange, so the calculated thickness of the shell-side flange turns out to be greater than that of the tube-side flange.
