I’m not majoring in chemistry, but I currently work at a chemical plant. Recently, a problem was identified during the three inspections and four checks for the new project. For the two heat exchangers, the flow of the heat medium into them is from below to above. Generally, in a heat exchanger, doesn’t the hot fluid enter from above and exit from below? I don’t understand; please, an expert can explain it.
If the heat medium is steam, it definitely flows in from above and out from below; whereas with heat transfer oil, it flows in from below and out from above. I’m not sure what your heat medium is
The heat medium is a product of the product tower. Temperature around 55°, liquid-phase feed.
It is possible to use the temperature of 55° of the product in the tower to preheat the cold medium.
It shouldn’t be explained that way. My heat medium is a propylene product at 55°, which, after being cooled by circulating water through this heat exchanger, enters the product tank. Product tank temperature: 50°. The circulating water comes from the main pipe directly and returns to the main pipe, without going to any other place.
I would like to ask: Is the heat exchanger horizontal or vertical, and does the heat medium flow through the shell side or the tube side?
For gases, it enters from above and exits from below; for liquids, it enters from below and exits from above
Why is the liquid designed this way? Is there something fundamental at work here?
