Internal structure of welded plate heat exchangers and flow direction of fluids'

During this major maintenance work on the heat exchanger, only the nozzles at the feed inlet were inspected; the top inlet was opened, but no internal inspection was carried out – only an external examination was done. I have no understanding of the internal structure or of how the medium undergoes heat exchange inside the heat exchanger. Please help
