Sea friends, I have a question. For a fixed-tube-sheet heat exchanger where the tube sheet also serves as a flange, and standard equipment flanges are used for the tube box flanges, is it still necessary to calculate the flanges in SW6? The pressure on the pipe side is 1.0; I chose a device flange with a value of 2.5 in order for the calculation to yield a successful result, but some people say that this flange does not require any calculation! Just enter it in SW6 to calculate the tube sheet!
First: Did you select the flange for your equipment based on temperature, pressure, and material? Second: Check whether there is a partition inside the equipment flange. If you carried out the first step but not the second, then you only need to enter data into the SW; when calculating the tube sheet, the torque on the flange side is required, and it’s okay if the calculation for the equipment flange does not succeed. If it is executed first and the second one exists, then the flange parameters of the corresponding equipment need to be adjusted to make the calculation successful.
If selection is made in accordance with the container flange matching principle, no calculation is required; however, if the matching principle cannot be satisfied, calculations must be performed to ensure compliance before use.
