Which water quality parameters need to be known in order to determine whether 304 or 3016L stainless steel should be used for the plate exchangers? And when else is Ti needed?
The material of the plates is chosen based on the corrosivity of the fluid; you can refer to corrosion manuals for guidance. For example, in cases where there is a high concentration of chloride ions, 304 and 316 materials cannot be used. In the presence of sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid solutions, titanium, 254Mo, Hastelloy, and similar materials may be necessary. 304 and 316 materials are particularly susceptible to chloride ions
