Some thoughts from domestic enterprises

I began researching heat exchangers made from highly corrosion-resistant materials in 2013. In 2015, I helped a company develop China’s first silicon carbide heat exchanger. Around 2018, silicon carbide heat exchangers entered a period of rapid market growth; domestic companies, seeing business opportunities, began to copy these technologies (including patented ones), and the technologies I had developed over the years (including those covered by patents) were also among those that were copied. It’s a great product in itself, but the fair competitive business environment has been disrupted, and the costs of protecting one’s rights are too high. Some private companies are reluctant to invest in research and development on their own (as it takes time and yields results slowly), so they poach employees from their competitors; this back-and-forth poaching turns even affiliated companies into rivals. Due to their relatively low level of technological sophistication, small private companies face various constraints that hinder their development... Price wars over products, as well as various unethical practices such as plagiarism, occur frequently... Companies that invest seriously in research are at a disadvantage; their research results are copied and the talent they develop is poached... These companies are anxious and also lack trust in their employees... Employees, despite having the capabilities, are not able to fully utilize them
That’s the current state of society – awareness of intellectual property is relatively low, and it’s not something that can be changed in the short term. Protecting intellectual property relies solely on filing patents; one also needs to take measures to protect it oneself. Of course, there are some things that are difficult to protect.
It seems there is a slogan used by one company that goes: “Always imitated, never surpassed.” In other words, one needs core technologies that others cannot replicate.

Such cases are not rare, especially the copying of advanced foreign products, which shows that the Chinese public needs to enhance their awareness of the laws regarding intellectual property rights.
The cat teaches the tiger to keep a backdoor strategy: There are things that may seem sophisticated to outsiders, and that experts can understand at a glance; the essential aspects are few, and they are easy to imitate.
Apply for technical patents, establish confidentiality mechanisms, improve confidentiality procedures, and enhance awareness of confidentiality. There are no perpetual patents in this world; today’s advanced testing, analysis, and reverse engineering techniques are becoming increasingly powerful, and it’s only a matter of time before they are cracked. If companies want to remain at the forefront, apart from taking the measures mentioned above, the best approach is to think three steps ahead in their business strategies, continue to invest in research and development, pursue continuous innovation, and keep upgrading their products.
Astoundingly, isn’t a patent meant to be something that companies can’t understand?
No matter how reluctant one is, that’s the truth; after another ten years, one will get used to it. I went through the same thing over a decade ago. It’s okay; back then, those who pretended to be there for inspections only learned the basics. As someone who’s been through it, my advice for the original poster is: stay calm, be innovative, and master the technology
