I use the data from this tubular heat exchanger for training*, calculating it using Qs = WsCps(Ts1-Ts2). It is now known that Qs=11.92MW, (Ts1-Ts2)=0.4℃, and I obtained the value of Cps to be 1904.36 J/(kg*℃) using software. So Ws=Qs/Cps/(Ts1-Ts2); that is, Ws=11.92*1000000/1904.36/0.4=15648.3 kg/s=56,333,886.45 kg/h. Since this is a reboiler at the bottom of a stripping tower, not only does the steam used as a heating medium undergo phase change, but the material being heated also necessarily undergoes phase change. It is inappropriate to treat the steam heater as a heat exchanger with no phase changes when conducting basic, simple calculations. Moreover, most heat exchangers, whether heaters or condensers (coolers), involve phase changes of one or both of the two-phase media.
