Domestic hot water mainly refers to the water used by urban and rural residents, as well as in mines and factories, for heating, showering, bathing, and laundry purposes. Domestic hot water falls under the category of low-temperature heat utilization, with temperatures generally ranging from 25 to 60°C. Plate heat exchangers can be used to heat tap water to the desired temperature using high-temperature heat sources such as steam or hot water. A plate heat exchanger unit, which consists of plate heat exchangers, continuously supplies hot water to users within a specific area through the regulation and control of the system. It boasts advantages such as large scale, wide coverage, high heat exchange efficiency, easy installation, intelligent control, and remote monitoring. Process for domestic hot water systems: Precautions: To ensure the proper operation of plate heat exchangers in domestic hot water supply, the following points should be taken into account: 1. When the water temperature is below 70°C, it constitutes low-temperature heat energy; under normal conditions, the water quality does not cause scaling. If there is a thin layer of scale inside the plate heat exchanger, it can be removed simply by using tap water for cleaning. 2. When a high-temperature heat source (water temperature above 70°C) is used, and the water quality is hard, it easily causes scaling in plate heat exchangers, thereby affecting the equipment’s service life. Therefore, in the use of plate heat exchangers for domestic hot water, it is necessary to control the quality and temperature of the water from the heat source in order to ensure the proper operation of the heat exchange equipment and a continuous supply of domestic hot water.

In my opinion, the system diagram is too general and does not take into account water pumps; these days, this type of system is rarely used for domestic hot water supply. Volumetric heat exchangers are more commonly employed, as plate-type exchangers are insufficient during peak water usage periods due to the lack of storage space.
