Our feed solution has an aluminum content of 45 grams per liter, a pH of around 2, and high purity; can aluminum sulfate be produced by evaporation crystallization using this solution? Are there any equipment manufacturers with relevant project experience who can recommend equipment? Should MVR, multi-effect, or falling film equipment be used? ? Thank you

Is the aluminum concentration too low? Is MVR okay?
Three-effect mixed-flow process + cooling crystallization + dehydration drying. If the pH of the material is somewhat low, and it contains neither fluorine nor chlorine, then 316L material is sufficient
After the aluminum sulfate solution becomes saturated, its boiling point increases significantly; the investment cost for MVR is high, while multi-effect systems are an alternative – it depends on cost-effectiveness. The process is roughly the same: evaporation, concentration, crystallization, followed by cooling to further precipitate the crystals, and finally drying
The pH can be adjusted to around 3.2 by adding aluminum hydroxide; that should work
I’m also worried that if the boiling point of the aluminum sulfate solution is too high, the MVR load will be very high; I saw previously that a client was evaporating a sodium nitrate solution; the boiling point is 120 degrees, and the MVR system was already struggling to handle it
More or less. The pH value definitely needs to be adjusted; otherwise, even if it’s made of titanium, it won’t hold up. With MVR, the boiling point rises too much, making further evaporation impossible. If the volume is small, a single-screw compressor can be tried; for larger volumes, a three-effect system is recommended
We plan to use 3 tons of aluminum sulfate with 18% water content per hour; after completing the environmental impact assessment, we are considering collaborating! :handshake
