How can isomers be separated and purified?
There are many methods; a popular one these days is static melt crystallization
Many isomers have similar boiling points, but a significant difference exists in their melting points. In such cases, a static crystallizer can be used by setting the temperature to the crystallization temperature of the component desired to be purified; the other component then remains in the mother liquor, allowing for purification. I’m not an expert in this field either; I only learned about this method while researching the purification of PLA recently
